Step by step. The, "For Sale", sign in front of our house.
Why, when, where and how?
Because Natasha told me to, "die with memories and not with dreams", and I'm 47 this year. And more sage advice from Natasha was to turn dreams into plans. So the dream to travel the world in a yacht is now becoming a plan. Also if we are to live this dream out, the time to do it is now. Nikita turns 12 next month. If we wait she will be in high school, but if we leave now we can start with home schooling. If we waited for her to finish school I may be too old by then.
When, where and how?
We are hoping to move Deusa to Cape Town by October. We are trying to move this date up but Andrew, whose boatyard Treetops, who will be doing the re-fit is busy with a project currently. So I'm not sure if we can improve on this.
I will finish work at Parrot Products at the end of November and by then we hope that our house has been sold. My sisters and their families will fly from Sydney and London respectively, to Johannesburg to spend a family Christmas. That means, all going well, we hope to leave for Cape Town early January.
The aim is to have Deusa re-launched mid 2017. Then we'd like to live aboard for a few months before setting sail. Well that's the plan!
Where and how?
We really aren't sure where we'll head to first. The current plan is to go to Mozambique and then Madagascar and then to the tropics, but this could easily change. I think once Deusa is back in the water in Cape Town we may change our minds. We are also being realistic about our route as we know we are going to learn a lot along the way, which will certainly influence where we go.
We plan to buy a property in Cape Town, which we will let out. This will give us some income. Other than that when we get internet connections I can trade the futures markets. Also by nature I have to be active all the time so I hope we attracte you as a Patron of ours and that you join in this adventure with us. We will take you with us by posting videos and you can help us by contributing a donation at Patreon. That should keep us sailing!
